The direction of this book cover is to take a more mature look to appeal to a larger crowd than just children. The main art element are the chaotic circles that cover the front, back, and spine. This is representative of the main characters jumping in and out of several of the pools to enter into different worlds. In the story, they begin to get confused as to which one they are supposed to go through, which is why the circles are represented in a chaotic fashion. The deep red and muted blue-gray color appeals to an older crowd, while the vibrant salmon color keeps the playfulness present. The typeface chosen is Adobe Caslon. I chose a serifed font that holds the mature, professional qualities, but used all lower-case to present the type in a casual and playful way.
